In the January, 1940 issue of Popular Mechanics, they ran what had to be one of the best articles on sledding in the history of publishing!  

I'm not sure what's cooler.... the plans for making a toboggan (including directions on how to bend wood) or the Scandinavian Ski-Jack which bears a primitive but eerily similar look to the Merikan Missle, or the unbelievably cool "Galloping Jockey Bob", which looks like a Ski Bike. Actually, I think it's the fact that they included plans on how to build a toboggan slide in your own back yard.  Thanks to the internet....here it is for you to enjoy!
